THE CROCS & THE FROCS

The Old Collegians Women's XV has since 2002 been known, affectionately, as the Frocs.

Why, you ask? Well...

Back in the early 90's, Old Collegians had a first grade team. According to legend they won a premiership, drank beer till the city ran dry, seduced angels, conquered nations and generally brought great glory to their families.   Mighty tales were told around the bar for a decade, until the end of the 2000 season when some bright spark floated the idea of reforming the team for old times' sake.

The theory was, the lads would get back together and play "socially" in the third grade.  However, it was to be a social venture only, and they were determined to make the whole thing about having fun and drinking heavily. They got back together for the 2001 season and over the next four years lost very few games and won three premierships.  True to the spirit of their rebirth, they trained only casually but took their beer very seriously.

They called themselves the "Completely Relaxed Old Collegians" - the Crocs.

During a chat by the bar, where all great decisions are made, it was agreed that  the Women's team represented the same values as the Crocs, particularly as regards off-pitch support and general team spirit.  Thus, the Crocs (who had by that time expanded into a third and fourth grade) joyfully embraced the women's team, who were duly given the Crocs' casual uniform and dubbed "the Frocs".

Our Frocs logo was struck in 2003 for the T-Shirts we wore for the Sevens Competition.  It was designed by Stewart Douglas, backs' coach in 2003.

The Crocs disbanded after the end of the 2004 season but the Frocs keep the tradition going.
