SONGS

There's  strange singing tradition in rugby, which starts with old hymns and folksongs and ends with bawdy, filthy offensive little dittieswhich are generally sung to a very familiar tune.   May we suggest www.fhrugby.org/songs.html for a huge list of them.

On this page we've jotted down some rugger-girl specific songs.  Some we learned along the way, some we found on other websites, some we made up ourselves.

The generally socially unacceptable songs have been removed from this page. Please note that those songs contain offensive language and sexual/adult themes. If you really want to see them, they can be downloaded in PDF form here.

The Club Song (to the tune of Blaydon Races)

Oh me lads you should have seen us coming!
Coming along the Greenhill Road,
Just to see you scrumming.
All the lads & lasses there,
And all the smiling faces,
Coming along the Greenhill Road,
To see the Old Collegians!

"Bag of Ice" - (to the tune of "Edelweiss")

Bag of ice, bag of ice,
Every morning you greet me.
Hard and white,
Clear and bright,
Heal my wounds I beseech thee.
When ibuprofen wears off a smidge
In the fridge I'll find thee
Bag of ice, bag of ice,
Bless the day that I froze thee.

"Injuries" - (to the tune of "The Way We Were")

Injuries - like the pain along my spine
Filthy, bloody, dirty injuries
From the way we play
Scattered bodies - on the fields they're left behind
Scars we gave to one another
From the way we bind

Can it be that we were so much faster then?
Or has time re-written every LIE?
If we had the chance to be much fitter then
Tell me would we?
No (spoken)
Could we?
No! (spoken)
Should we?
HELL NO! (shouted)

Injuries - they may keep you from the game
But what's too painful to remember
We simply choose to forget

So it's the glory
We will remember
Whenever we remember
The way we played

"Lean on me"

Lean on me, when you can't scrum

I am your prop, I'll help you carry on

For it won't be long, 'Til I'm gonna need
Somebody to lean on

" Prop! In the name of love" - (to the tune of "Stop! In the name of love")

Prop! In the name of love.
We've got these great big thighs.
Prop! In the name of love.
Someday we'll score some tries.
Ruck it ooo-ooover.
Ruck it ooo-ooover.
I tried to be, tried to be so patient
but the backs have ball infatuation.
But each time that we come together
I know that I could be doing this forever.
So next time that you drop the ball,
Remember who has to maul!
Ruck it ooo-ooover.
(Haven't I been good to you?)
Ruck it ooo-ooover.
(Haven't I been strong for you?)
Prop! In the name of love.
Before we break your face.
Prop!
